Cookie Policy
Version 2.0 · Last updated 14 October 2026 · Effective from the date of publication on aikaya.net
Aikaya is operated by Tenchi DWC-LLC. We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser-storage keys. We use no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies and browser storage are small pieces of information saved on your device. Under the EU ePrivacy Directive, as implemented in the law of your country, we may store or read them without your consent only where they are strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Everything else needs your consent, which you give or refuse in our banner.
2. Strictly necessary — always on
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
__Host-session | Keeps you signed in after you use a sign-in link | 30 days from your last visit, and never more than 90 days after sign-in |
aikaya_active_studio | Remembers which studio a team member is working in | 12 months |
aikaya_consent | Stores your cookie choice so we do not ask again | 12 months |
3. Preferences you set — always on
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
br_creator_nudge_dismissed | Cookie | Remembers that you closed a prompt | 12 months |
br-playback-mode, br-playback-mode:<course> | Local storage | Video or audio-only playback, in general and per course | Until you clear it |
br-cc-enabled, br-cc-lang | Local storage | Whether captions are on, and in which language | Until you clear it |
4. Only with your consent
| Name / tool | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
aikaya_ref | Notes that your visit started on Browse, Classes, Free or a discipline page, so we can count visits in aggregate | 30 days |
| Vercel Web Analytics, provided by Vercel Inc. (no cookie; a script loaded from our own domain sends page-view data, and visits are counted using a hash created from the incoming request) | Aggregated statistics on how the site is used: time of the page view, page address and route, referring page, filtered query parameters, approximate location (country, region, city), operating system and version, browser and version, and device type. The data is not linked to your account or to your IP address | The visit hash is discarded after 24 hours; we see only aggregated figures |
| Practice statistics (no cookie; our host's approximate country and time zone from your connection, and device type from your browser) | Anonymous counters that show Creators where and when their classes are practised. Recorded only if you accept; otherwise stored as "unknown" | Counters hold no identifier and are kept while the class exists |
None of these loads or is recorded until you accept. If you decline, or have not yet chosen, the analytics script is not loaded at all.
5. Third parties you may meet
When you pay, you are on Stripe's checkout, which sets its own cookies for payment security and fraud prevention under Stripe's privacy policy. Videos are streamed from our delivery provider's servers without cookies.
6. Your choices
You can change your choice at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, which opens a panel showing your current choice. Necessary cookies and the preferences you set yourself (sections 2 and 3) are always on; analytics is the only thing you can switch on or off. You can also reject everything optional in one click, and delete cookies in your browser settings. Refusing consent does not limit any feature of Aikaya.
